QUINOA (Chenopodium) is a food plant of the Amaranthaceae family originated in the Bolivian and Peruvian Andean region surrounding lake Titicaca.
The QUINOA plant is grown since the ancient time of the Incas as a seed crop and is considered to be sacred by the originative of the Andes due to its exclusive nutritional characteristics.
The QUINOA seeds have different flavors, colors and textures. The darker grains have an earthy flavor like brown rice, while white grains taste softer and have a smoother texture like white rice.
